To continue to build my home business, JENTAR Electronic Business Solutions through contract work; to offer my skills as a business consultant, web designer and business administration.

Summary

  • Honours graduate from the Web Designer course at CDI college in October 2004 has given me basic graphic and design skills, as well as knowledge on setting up and creating web sites.
  • Completion of a Business Administration program at CDI college in 2004 with highest honours, has given me the formal training to understand the legal requirements and formalities required to run a successful business.
  • Worked for 7 years in the administration office at Longlac Wood Industries, which gave me valuable knowledge and insight into the day-to-day operations of a large manufacturing company.
  • Meticulous attention to details, quality and quantity, sets me apart from the majority whose main concern is quantity.
  • Very reliable and tenacious with self-discipline and organizational skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Use Outlook (full version) for email, to create calendars and reminders as well as maintain a current list of associates and businesses.
    • Use Word and Excel to create reports, graphs, newsletters and spreadsheets.
    • Use PowerPoint to create exceptional slide shows and presentations.
    • Some experience with MS Access.
    • Some experience with MS Project.

  • Adept at using the Internet as a reference tool.
  • Understand and used Simply Accounting in the Business Administration course.
  • Understand and use Macromedia MX Dreamweaver and Flash for designing web pages and animation.
  • Edit and manipulate graphics and photos in Adobe Photoshop.
  • Use Adobe Acrobat Professional to create online forms.

  • Maintained records of equipment inspections, including modifications to scheduling and equipment specifications.
  • Created reports and graphs to help visualize maintenance vision.
  • Produced monthly newsletter for maintenance department, which grew into a company wide newsletter. Emailed and published on the company's internal web page.
  • Created calendars for staff and union people showing safety anniversaries, hire dates, birthdays and miscellaneous vacations and time off work.
  • Helped the Human Resource Department to modify spreadsheet calculating lost time days frequency and accident statistics.
  • Received training on logging department, month end, stumpage fees, weigh scales, invoicing and paying contractors using an Access database program.

  • Ensured invoices were approved, entered in 'Open Accounts' computer system, posted, paid and paperwork filed, all in a reasonable time frame, and according to vendors' terms.
  • Communicated with purchasing departments, suppliers and accounting department to ensure accuracy for month end reports.
  • Ensured all possible discounts were taken, transportation invoices were entered, and all accruals were entered for month end.
  • Worked on budgets for different departments, including maintenance, production, and heavy equipment in yard.
  • Maintained records of company licenses, vehicles, office copy and fax machines and ensured cost efficient contracts were signed.
  • Worked in Purchasing and Receiving department when asked. Ensured all company purchase orders and inventory were maintained.

     July 1994 - March 1996
     Maintenance Planner/Maintenance Clerk
     Weldwood of Canada Ltd.
        (bought out by Kruger in 1995 and became Longlac Wood Industries Inc.)

  • Previous knowledge gained from twelve years of performing various union positions which included operating heavy equipment in the yard, running a slasher, a debarker, wafer chip dryers and other mill equipment, and four years of performing the duties of lubricating all equipment in the mill, helped me obtain the Maintenance Planner position.
  • Worked to set up maintenance and lubrication inspection tours of equipment and entered all into computer system for scheduling. Also helped with the planning of contract work on equipment and main buildings by getting quotes and setting up contractors and rental equipment to complete larger jobs.
  • When an engineer was hired, I was moved into the position of Maintenance Clerk where I continued to work inputting maintenance information gathered from the tradesmen on a daily basis. I also directed telephone calls until a new telephone system was installed.
